Toine Heijmans

Toine Heijmans (1969) works as a journalist for de Volkskrant, where he writes columns. In 2011 he published his fiction debut, At Sea – which gained international recognition and was widely translated and adapted into a film. It also made Hejmans the first Dutch author to win the prestigious French Prix Médicis étranger. In 2019, Pluim Publishers published a collection of Heijmans’ most popular sea and sailing stories. Heijmans lives on the outskirts of Amsterdam, close to his sailing boat, which also functions as his writing office.
