Rob van Essen (1963) is the author of a distinctive, beloved, and award-winning body of work. In 2015, he won the J.M.A. Biesheuvelprijs for his short story collection Hier wonen ook mensen. He subsequently won the Libris Literatuur Prijs twice: in 2019 for De goede zoon and in 2024 for Ik kom hier nog op terug.
