Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi

Jennifer Nansubuga Makumi (1967) writes novels and short stories. She studied and taught English literature in Uganda, before continuing her studies in 2001 in Manchester. Her two novels, Kintu and The First Woman won several awards and are considered contemporary classics. Makumbi is one of the most important voices in African literature. She teaches Creative Writing at the University of Manchester.
