Ariëlla Kornmehl (1975) studied Philosophy but she currently is a fulltime writer. She made a promising debut with The Goldwasser Family in 2001 on a young woman struggling with her Jewish heritage. Ariëlla moved to South-Africa and wrote her second novel, The Butterfly Month, about a young doctor moving to Johannesburg to flee her struggles at home. This book was sold to six countries.
A Silent Mother was published in 2009. This has been published in Germany and will be published in France. It was chosen as Book Club Book of the Year 2011 by the readers of the Dutch book clubs. Her latest novel is Hidden Feelings which was published in 2013 and immediately nominated for the Wizo Literature Prize 2014.
